The Goa Medical College
Goa Medical College is the successor of the 'Escola Medico Cirungica de Goa' established by the Portuguese in the year 1842 and thus one of the oldest Centre of Medical Education in this part of the world. In the year 1963, this Medical School was upgraded as Goa Medical College, attached to the Bombay University and later in the year 1983 affiliated to Goa University. This is one of the prestigious institution of the country, recognized by the Medical Council of India, admits 100 students for undergraduate M.B.B.S. Course, while 72 Post - Graduate are admitted every year. It has presently 1000 beds. The entire complex at Goa Medical College, Bambolim is spread in an area of 11, 34,798 Sq. Mts. The Goa Dental College
The Goa Dental College & Hospital is a professional college which was established by the Government in June, 1980. This Institution is affiliated to the Goa University and recognized by the Dental Council of India. It acts as a referral center in the state for dental services and has been rendering specialized services through nine departments in various specialties which provide the students clinical exposure and experience in imparting dental care to the patients. The Bambolim athletic stadium
The newly constructed Athletic Stadium at Bambolim, venue of Lusofonia Games were held here. This is the first integrated athletic complex in Goa which is constructed according to IAAF specifications and norms. The facility has a permanent seating capacity of 3500 and a temporary seating capacity of 6500. The competition track will have lanes based on IAAF approved and IAAF class – II international standards. The tracks are certified synthetic tracks. Its arena has all facilities for track and field events as well as Athletic throwing events. The inner area of the track is covered with natural turf which can also be used as a football ground. Additional facilities include arena lighting, natural turf, player change rooms and lounge, gymnasium, dope control and medical rooms, a dormitory, media workstations and lounge, viewing galleries, cafeteria and parking facilities. Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium
Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium is an indoor stadium located on the campus of Goa University at Taleigao. The stadium was constructed for the 2014 Lusophony Games for events of volleyball and basketball. The stadium is named after Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee former Indian politician and the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh. The stadium has a seating capacity of 4000 and was inaugurated by Governor of Goa Bharat Vir Wanchoo in 2014. It cost 82 Crore and was built in 11 months which is a record for the construction of an indoor stadium of international standard. With a 131-metre sheet, the stadium is Asia's first stadium which has the longest single-sheet roof. Facilities includes air conditioning, player change rooms and lounge, dope control and medical rooms, media center, state-of-the-art-acoustics and parking facilities and maple wood flooring at playing field. The stadium can also be used for many non-sporting events and it can accommodate any indoor sporting event played at the Olympics.
